Mohammad Zakir Hossain Sarker

A Barrister and Solicitor licensed by the Law Society of Ontario, Canada, with more than 28 years of legal and professional experience including his experience in other jurisdictions.
Graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Zakir obtained his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Canadian Common Law. He also holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. Honours) from the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. As an internationally trained lawyer, he successfully completed the Certificate of Qualification through the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada.
Throughout his career, Zakir has developed extensive experience working on complex and time-sensitive legal and professional matters. Prior to establishing his legal practice in Canada, he served as a Human Rights Advisor with Action Aid Denmark, based in Monrovia, Liberia.
His professional experience has also taken him to numerous international forums. In January 2013, he was invited by the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva to share his experience at an Expert Group Meeting held in Switzerland. In December 2009, he was one of the presenters at a workshop organized by UNESCO during the 6th International Conference on Adult Educationin Brazil. In September 2008, his paper was selected by Australian National University and World Vision Australia for presentation at the International Conference on Measuring Effectiveness: Participation, Empowerment and Downward Accountability in Melbourne, Australia.
Zakir has travelled to 21 countries to participate in workshops, seminars, meetings, conferences andother professional and development-related activities since beginning hiscareer in December 1998. He was also honoured with the Bob Luker Community Awardfrom George Brown College, Toronto, in recognition of his contribution to community development.
Zakir takes a client-centred approach to his legal practice. He is known for his ability to provide in-depth advice on complex and time-sensitive matters. He believes in listening carefully to his clients, understanding their individual circumstances, and providing practical and effective legal solutions.
His diverse professional experience, international background and multilingual abilities enable him to serve clients from a wide range of backgrounds with professionalism, compassion and personal attention.
Zakir is a member of Law Society of Ontario, Ontario Bar Association, Toronto Lawyers Association, CanadianBar Association and Comilla Bar Association. He also serves as a Director of the Bangladeshi Canadian Lawyers Association (BCLA).
